Cross specialty operations |
|
|
Has anyone found a way to get round the fact that most of the hand and wrist operations we do are not listed specifically enough under plastics but are in the ortho logbook? If I add the operations online I can put them under ortho, but then they don't come up on consolidation properly. Would it be worth copying those operations in under plastics as well, or is there a way round it? I'm thinking of things like wrist fusion, wrist arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release (as a specific operation rather than 'nerve decompression'), ulna shortening etc. (Also removal of metalwork and muscle biopsy from the general ortho section).
I've also been involved in a number of MaxFax operations (working in Oz most facial fractures fixed by us)- same problem adding these in.
Is it possible to consolidate all operations together regardless of specialty? or can I import specific operations to my profile to allow me to add them in as Plastics?

WIth the number of operations increasing rapidly and the above posting wrt trauma and orthopaedics hand surgery details evident, not to mention the greater detail in skin lesion excision BCC, SCC, MM or other etc, MaxFax detail for facial local skin flaps, detailed types of free flap and breast reconstruction, ....the list goes on.... is there any sign that the above totally reasonable request may be acted upon? It really would be of great benefit if we are to keep an accurate detailed eLogbook for use by trainees for their own audit or that of trainers for regional comparisons.

I've emailed them several times regarding this exact problem and nothing seems to happen. Maybe mass emailing may prompt some action?
