Definition of Assisted Supervision Code
Recently medical students who have been in theatre several times to observe surgery but have actually been scrubbed in and helping hold cameras, implements etc. have been querying how to record these operations in their eLogbook. Each Medical School has a formal agreement with its teaching hospitals under which medical students are permitted to assist at operations. The way these operations should be recorded is Assisted and NOT Observed. You can officially, therefore, be recording these operations as a surgical assistant and this should strengthen any future applications you might make for surgical posts.
