Use of the FHI elogbook is free, and we wish to keep it so. You will realise that development and maintenance of the logbook
( including the helpdesk) are very expensive. This expense is borne by RCSEd, but it is reasonable to expect some contribution from users. The current way in which you can contribute is to take advantage of the facility to have your operataive data analysed and compared with that of your national peer group, stratified by year of training. This allows you to see how your training programme compares with others in the UK in terms of providing operative experience, and can be a useful weapon at your appraisals and RITA processes. The facility costs £20 per year. So far 97 spRs have paid for such analysis. Obviously, the more people take up this option, the more statitically meaningful are the data you receive. Some specialities have made use of this facility compulsory for trainees. Urology does not wish to do so at this stage, and wishes to encourage voluntary uptake. You can register easily via the "Admin and Help" tab. Your views on this would be welcomed.
