Pocket PC Electronic Logbook - Version 1.0

We are pleased to announce the release of a Version 1.0 of the Pocket PC electronic logbook, this is designed to work on Pocket PC 2002 and Pocket PC 2003 versions of the operating system, and has not been tested on other versions of the Pocket PCs.
Instructions for use
  1. Download the Pocket PC based logbook from here
  2. Run the installation file and install the system onto your PDA
  3. When prompted on the PDA you will be asked if you want to over write some files, reply "no to all".
  4. Launch the "Electronic Logbook" from within the programs section of your PDA.
  5. The first time you launch the PDA application you will need to undertake a setup procedure which involves the PDA communicating with the Server to download the latest operation codes, the system will also download your Consultants List and Hospital List from the "thin client" system, and you must be registered for this to be successful.
  6. The setup procedure will take approximately 5 mins during which your PDA must have access to the Internet either via your PC or directly by a wireless or mobile connection.
  7. The system operates as a "store and forward" logbook, i.e. it allows you to enter records in the operating theatre off-line, coding the operations correctly with up to date codes, later when you connect to the Internet these records can then be transmitted securely to the "thin client" web application for safe storage.
  8. Please note there is limited security built into the Pocket PC system, so in between entry of operative records and transmission to the College Servers any records stored in the PDA are potentially vulnerable if your PDA is stolen.
